Allyson has had a full career in nursing caring for patients of the entire life cycle. She obtained a diploma in nursing from the Albany School of Nursing in Albany, NY followed by a B.S. in Nursing from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. She started her career on the adolescent unit of a major university medical center, worked the barrios of Los Angeles as a public health nurse, and served as the nurse for a co-ed jail for juveniles.
Her interest in food as medicine led to a B.S. degree in Nutrition Management from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. Allyson worked as a Registered Dietitian in both acute and outpatient settings for several years before entering graduate school to “put it all together.” She graduated with a Master’s degree in Advance Practice Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner track) from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. Allyson has worked as a nurse practitioner in a large primary medicine practice, a palliative medicine/hospice program and, most recently, completing health assessments on elders in their home.
She is happy to work at Total Healthcare MD helping clients reach their health goals by establishing new, healthy habits. She is a native of Western New York, but loves living in North Carolina. Her hobbies include cooking, reading, fitness walking, biking and anything “artsy”.
